There are four tuition plans. Your family’s plan is decided by your Parish support, parent participation hours, and/or scrip purchase. Most new families start in Plan D. Parents who meet the Parish requirement start in Plan B. Families are eligible to move to Plan A or C in the following school year depending on their participation in their first year. Families who do not meet any requirements remain in Plan D.
Parish Support: To be eligible for either Plan A or B, Catholic families who are registered in St. Gabriel Parish must contribute at least $100 each six months (July–December and January–June) using the Parish offering envelopes in the previous school year. This contribution is not tax deductible. To be eligible for Plan A, families must also meet both the parent participation and scrip purchase requirements in the previous school year.
Parent Participation: To be eligible for either Plan A or C, in addition to meeting the scrip purchase requirement, two-parent families are required to perform 40 hours and single-parent families are required to perform 20 hours of parent participation between July and June in the previous school year. There are many opportunities to participate, including events on weekends, volunteering during the school day (e.g., helping in classrooms), at home (e.g., sewing costumes), and maintenance. Due to Archdiocesan policy (due to IRS rulings), families are not able to “pay off” their required hours. However, if families purchase materials for the school, they will still be credited with one parent hour for each $15 worth of materials purchased.
Scrip Participation : To be eligible for either Plan A or C, in addition to meeting the parent participation requirement, a family must purchase scrip from St. Gabriel with a net profit to St. Gabriel of $150 between July and June in the previous school year.
